Table Mountain is up for election as one of the ' New 7 Wonders of Nature' depending on votes cast.

Table Mountain is in the running to become one of the New7Wonders of Nature, but this South African attraction is falling behind!

The New7Wonders will be announced on November 11, 2011 and we need your help to ensure our place in the history books.

Vote for Table Mountain online or via SMS as often as possible. SMS “Table” to 34874. Each SMS costs R2.

Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, Table Mountain National Park and Cape Town Tourism have formed an official supporting committee to champion the mountain’s cause. Table Mountain needs approximately 30 million votes to secure a top seven spot. SMS voting is unlimited, so you can vote as often as you like.

The campaign is run by the New7Wonders Foundation in Zurich, Switzerland, an organization which fosters global dialogue through democratic campaigns, and through these campaigns, promotes conservation efforts worldwide for man-made and natural monument.

I grew up not really appreciating my mother. What she did, was expected. Making sure my life happened. That is what she did. I grew into being an adult and my mom grew to being a senior citizen.
Three and a half years ago I married a fantastic woman and very soon she was carrying our baby. Our oldest boy is now 2 years and 8 months and our youngest is 14 months. I cannot describe in words what I have witnessed my wife do for my kids and our family. I have seen the most superhuman existence of all time. From the moment of conception until the present moment she carries my family and makes our lives work.
I have read about many amazing achievements that people have achieved feats of endurance and courage that leave one breathless but none of these compare even remotely to being a mother. The endurance and courage required to be a Mother is immense and immeasurable.
Today I am in awe of mothers. I was truly blessed to have my own mom and now to have my wife. As a husband and father a have a walk on role in this family. My wife is undoubtedly the star and the foundation on which our family lives.
To all the Moms out there I salute you. You are without doubt the centre of our society and our existence.
To my mother and to my wife, I love you and thank you. I am blessed to have you both, for I would have been nothing without you.
One day is certainly not enough to celebrate Mothers. This should be a daily requirement. Happy Mothers Day.

The Himalayan Tahrs or mountain goats were thought to have been completely culled in 2004 from the slopes of Table Mountain.
Well these goats are much better at surviving then one would think. A handful of the goats were seen around the Platteklip Gorge area..........

We drove slowly through the streets of Masiphumelele, a South African township, ever so slowly and carefully. Its residents filled the narrow streets, men hanging out in bunches on the street corners, women bustling to and fro seeming to be doing all the work, and children, as usual, playing their fast and furious street games excitedly and joyfully.......

The Flying Dutchman, according to folklore, is a ghost ship that can never go home, doomed to sail the oceans forever. The Flying Dutchman is usually spotted from afar, sometimes glowing with ghostly light. It is said that if hailed by another ship, its crew will try to send messages to land or to people long dead. In ocean lore, the sight of this phantom ship is a portent of doom.....
